Dr. HATA Yuki held the seminar “Japanese Stories and Food” at the National Library of Finland
HATA Yuki, Ph.D., Specially Appointed Assistant Professor, Sakeology Center, held the seminar “Japanese Stories and Food (Japanilaisia kertomuksia ruuasta)” at the National Library of Finland from March 11 to 13, 2024.
This seminar was held as part of a joint educational research project on Japan studies by Dr. Hata and FUSE Rie, Ph.D., University Instructor, Faculty of Arts, University of Helsinki. Graduate students majoring in Japanese language or culture at the University of Helsinki ran the seminar, and three researchers from Japan, including Dr. Hata, gave lectures on food in Japanese literature. More than 150 people from Finland, Norway, Sweden, Vietnam, and Japan attended the seminar, which was a hybrid of face-to-face and online.
The materials used in the lectures were exhibited at the National Library of Finland during the seminar and are now available as an online exhibition on the Asian Studies blog of the University of Helsinki. Please take a look.
