Mr. ARAKI Tadahisa, a donor of approximately 1,500 valuable sake cups, vessels, and bottles to the Sakeology Center, and his wife visited the Center from Okayama Prefecture on May 20, 2025.
Mr. and Mrs. Araki had a pleasant talk with SUEYOSHI Kuni, Ph.D, Director of Sakeology Center, HIRATA Dai, Ph.D., Vice Director, and ONO Yoshiko, Ph.D., Head of Promotion Office of the Center, in the Seminar Room. Tour of the Sakeology Center
Mr. Araki donated his collection of approximately 1,500 sake cups, vessels, and bottles to the Sakeology Center in 2024. For nearly 60 years, he has been collecting elaborate and unique sake cups, etc., with a “playful” spirit.
The donated items are crafted from a wide variety of materials, including ceramics, stone, glass, metal, wood, bamboo, and plant-based materials. The collection tells us how Mr. Araki has pursued interesting shapes, colors, manufacturing methods, and uses, has learned about life, culture, and history, and has enjoyed the skills and richness of sensitivity through sake cups, etc.
The Sakeology Center displays part of them in the Exhibition Space and Seminar Room at all times, changing them frequently. Please come and take a look.
