The 3rd Sakeology Seminar in FY2024, “Genetic analysis using sake rice and high-temperature countermeasures that farmers can consult,” was held

On December 4, 2024, the 3rd Sakeology Seminar in FY2024, “Genetic analysis using sake rice and high-temperature countermeasures that farmers can consult,” was held. In the seminar, YAMASAKI Masanori, Ph.D., Professor of the Faculty of Agriculture, Cooperating Faculty Member of the Sakeology Center, gave a lecture on his research.

Dr. Yamasaki introduced his research on high-temperature countermeasures for rice, which has become a major issue in recent years. In particular, based on the case of rice produced in Niigata Prefecture, which was damaged by the unprecedented climate in 2023, Dr. Yamasaki explained the importance of production management through fertilization management after ear emergence and the use of bio-stimulants (chemicals) as high-temperature countermeasures that farmers can consult, in addition to developing high-temperature tolerant cultivar.
