KISHI Yasuyuki, Ph.D., Vice Director of Sakeology Center, gave a lecture at the “2024 Miss SAKE Nadeshiko Program” (*1)(*2) on April 13.

(*1) “Miss SAKE” is an “ambassador with a sense of beauty and intelligence” who introduces the attractiveness of traditional sake and Japanese culture to people in Japan and abroad, and is selected annually at the Miss SAKE contest organized by the General Incorporated Association Miss SAKE. This year marks the 11th year, and the “2024 Miss SAKE” will be selected at the final contest on June 7.

(*2) “Miss SAKE Nadeshiko Program” is an educational program for the finalists (approximately 20 women) selected at the regional Miss SAKE contests. Over the three months leading up to the final contest, the program is designed to deepen the finalists’ knowledge of sake and Japanese culture and to help them grow as Yamato Nadeshiko (*3), an independent woman.

(*3) In Japanese, Yamato Nadeshiko means a woman who combines delicacy, fragility, dignified bearing, and an unbreakable core of strength. It refers to the flower of nadeshiko (scientific name: Dianthus superbus; English name: pink).
