Status raised to University-wide Organization for Research and Education, Sakeology Center, Niigata University
In April 2018, the Sakeology Center, Niigata University was set up as a Core Station-attached Institute for Research Promotion. To further promote the four pillars of Sakeology (education, research, information dissemination, and international exchange) as university-wide initiatives, on January 1, 2020, the Center entered a new phase of life as a University-wide Organization for Research and Education.
It will produce interdisciplinary research output in line with the third medium-term goals and plans and orient itself toward developing and supporting outstanding young researchers from both within and outside Japan. It will continue to function within the interdisciplinary model with the establishment of three units for activities categorized as brewing, society and culture, and health. The Center has its own faculty members, and a new Promotion Office has been put in place to manage the program and its events.
In the future, the Center will try to realize its aims of expanding its collaborative agreements with foreign universities, developing a certified training program, conducting lectures in English, and creating opportunities for international internships while aspiring to become an international hub for research and education on Sakeology.
