Special Lecture: “Toward the Future of the Sake Industry – Expectations for Sakeology” was held

On April 9, 2026, a special lecture on Sakeology entitled “Toward the Future of the Sake Industry – Expectations for Sakeology” was held for students studying Sakeology at the seminar room of the Sakeology Center, Niigata University. Mr. Iida Toyohiko, President of the Iida Group, was invited as the guest lecturer.
The lecture was attended by 11 students on site and 9 students online.

First, he introduced an overview of the company’s history and business development, highlighting the Iida Group’s wholesale business in alcoholic beverages and food products, such as sake, wine, and craft beer.
A detailed explanation was then given of the current state of the global sake market, along with remarks on the importance of creating added value and storytelling, as well as the expected role of Sakeology.
Students actively raised questions during the Q&A session, making it a valuable opportunity to consider the future of the sake industry.
Following the lecture, a continued discussion and networking session was held. In a relaxed atmosphere, participants exchanged views with Mr. Iida and members of the Iida Group while enjoying sake, including “Rikka no Mori,” a sake that graduate students worked on the sake brewing, soft drinks, and food.
It provided a highly meaningful opportunity for exchange for the students.
