Dr. HATA Yuki gave a special lecture at the 91st Anniversary Ceremony of Niigata Prefectural Sake Research Institute

HATA Yuki, Ph.D., Specially Appointed Assistant Professor, Sakeology Center, gave a special lecture at the 91st Anniversary Ceremony of Niigata Prefectural Sake Research Institute on October 18, 2021.

Under the title of “The pleasure of drawing sake: The culture of sake known from the literary works of pre-modern Japan,” Dr. HATA Yuki explained the spread of sake culture while showing sake depicted in various stories, paintings, and prints made from the late Muromachi to the Edo period (around the 16th – 19th centuries).

The special lecture by Dr. HATA Yuki is open to the public on the Niigata Sake Brewers Association website until December 15, 2022.

At the ceremony, Mr. Odaira, Chairman of Niigata Sake Brewers Association; Mr. Arai, Vice Director of Department of Industry and Labor, on behalf of Mr. Hazazumi, Governor of Niigata Prefecture; and Dr. Kaneoke, Director of Niigata Prefectural Sake Research Institute, gave their speeches, followed by congratulatory speeches from Mr. Kondo, Director of Office of Analysis and Brewing Technology of Kantoshinetsu Regional Taxation Bureau; Mr. Kobayashi, District Director of Niigata Tax Office; and Prof. Ushiki, President of Niigata University.
