Sakeology B course for AY 2018 was launched

Sakeology B, which provides an overview for the study of Sakeology, was launched.

On the first day, a lecture on sake tasting was conducted by researchers from Niigata Prefectural Sake Research Institute, and students were challenged to try out sake testing on their own after the lecture.

 

On the second day, the students gathered at Imayo Tsukasa Sake Brewery Co., Ltd. for a field trip to experience the inside of a brewery under the guidance of Chief Brewer TAKASUGI Osamu.

 

After the field trip, the students learned about “Revitalizing the Region through Sake” from KONDO Shinichi, Vice Chairman of Niigata Sake Brewers Association, and “The Etiquette of Sake” from HIRATA Dai, Vice Chairman of Niigata Sake Brewers Association.

During the discussion, ODAIRA Shunji, Chairman of the Niigata Sake Brewers Association, also joined in, and there was a vibrant discussion where the students asked many questions from different perspectives such as the overseas expansion of Niigata Sake, regional revitalization, the history of the brewery system, development of new products, etc.

 

Finally, a lecture on sake and food pairing was conducted by TANAKA Yosuke, CEO of Imayo Tsukasa Sake Brewery Co., Ltd., and KANEOKE Mitsuoki, Director of Niigata Prefectural Sake Research Institute, marking the conclusion of Sakeology for the first academic year.
